Policies & Procedures

General Information
BRIGHT STARS READING CLUB is a non-profit organization designed to service only first, second, and third grade children.

All children must be registered for a Monthly session prior to the first class.

This program is offered on Saturdays from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.

All staff members have been interviewed, trained, and finger-printed. Staff members can be identified by their uniform shirts and name badges.

Parents
Learning How To ReadAll parents must complete a questionnaire before each Monthly session and at the end of your child's last session.

There is a $60.00 fee required upon registration. Parents must sign a liability waiver. We also need your permission to use your child's photo for print/ web site/ video for the sole purpose of promoting the services of BRIGHT STARS READING CLUB.

Parents should notify the director if a child has a special medical condition, such as a bladder problem, allergies, or asthma.

Attendance
All children should attend every Saturday during the Monthly session, in order to fully benefit from the program.

Children should arrive by 9:00 am and should be picked up promptly at 11:00 am.

If your child is sick, please do not bring him/her to the program.

Children should be fed before they arrive. A light snack will be provided at the end of each session.

Parents MUST sign children in and out. (Print name and provide signature, and indicate time, as well.)

If you are not picking up your child, the designated person should be listed on the registration form and will be required to show identification upon request. If the person who is sent to pick up a child is not on the list, your child will not be permitted to leave with that person.

Children Learning To ReadIf no one arrives to pick up your child by 12:00 noon and no contact has been made with the parents, the Inglewood Police Department will be contacted and your child will be taken to the police station and left there until your arrival.

Parents MUST provide all telephone numbers where you can be reached including a home number, a cell phone number, and a work number. Also, you should provide us with current emergency contact phone numbers.

Children
Your child will be required to wear a name tag during the entire 2-hour session. The name tag should be left at the sign-in area at the end of each session.

Children will be allowed to use the restroom and get water, when needed.


Children will complete a Reading Log during each session.

Children can bring their own book to read as long as it is appropriate and on his/her reading level.

Your child should not bring any toys, food, or other items to the club unless directed to do so.

All children must adhere to the following BRIGHT STARS READING CLUB rules:

1) All children MUST follow all directions from the staff.
2) All children MUST respect all adults and other club members.
3) All children MUST keep hands, feet and objects to themselves.
4) All children MUST respect all property. (Please return all property that may have been accidentally taken from the facility.)

Parents will be notified if a child is having difficulty adhering to the rules of the program. Appropriate action will be taken depending on the behavior. (Example, time away from the group, parent contact, etc.)
